What is chin augmentation?
Chin augmentation is most commonly performed using a chin implant. This procedure can strengthen the appearance of a weak chin or jawline. This procedure will produce distinct changes to the silhouette of the face which will, in turn, create a more defined appearance.
The chin implant is usually made of soft silicone and is surgically placed against the bone of the chin. The sizing of the implant varies and is based on an evaluation by a board-certified plastic surgeon.
How do I prepare for chin augmentation surgery?
In your initial consultation with Dr. Antimarino, make sure to discuss your expectations for the procedure. This is the time to discuss your concerns and your goals, as he will design a surgical plan specifically for you.

Surgery: This procedure is done under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. The procedure typically takes around an hour to complete.
After Surgery: Postoperatively, the patient may experience mild swelling and minimal pain to the site. The surgical incision may be placed inside the mouth or underneath the chin. There will be a dressing underneath the chin for approximately 4-5 days to limit the amount of swelling and maintain placement of the implant. Patients are routinely seen within 4-5 days of their surgery by Dr. Antimarino for evaluation. Patients may return to work in approximately one week and resume exercise after a minimum of 2 weeks.
